Lightstrive is a facade projection in public space. Within the beamer´s light cone passers-by can interact with an imaginary light that is represented as a pale circle on the opposing building´s wall. People can catch, throw and push the light or shoot it high upwards. It will act just like a ball and bounce off the players´ shadows and from the building´s facade.

In accordance to its position in space the imaginary light illuminates the facade in a continuous movement and from changing directions. The source of this imaginary light however remains invisible. But you can see the balconies´shadows dance with every movement of the light.

In this way the players enlight the building´s facade and make the shadows of the balconies dance.

Originally the project was developed for the cultural program of the Olympic Games in the city of Athens. There is no limit for the number of participating players.

Lightstrive was realised in cooperation with Joreg and Sebastian Gregor, developers of the VVVV programming language.
